Since May, I’ve been helping the Stony Brook Press revamp it’s web presence in turn for free advertising on their newspaper. I guess this is a win win situation, they get a brand new spanking new website which blows The Statesman’s out of the water and we get free exposure!

The K2 theme was hacked to our look and feel! :) Next to be done, the WIKI!! There are still some problems with rendering on the IE platform for our blog, its minor but as a web designer, it’s annoying! So I plan on fixing that soon.

I’m going to start to push for everyone to use Mozilla Firefox here on out.

I sat on my computer all day waiting for my friend to call to go out but he never did, so I updated First Look and a little of the main part of the website as well as a little on the index page.

I thought it would be cool to have our faces posterized on the front page like Mark Zuckerberg on Facebook. A second look at Facebook doesn’t seem to show his face anymore. But anyhow, it still looks cool!

Winter break was great for most of us. At the end of last semester, development sort of halted because we were all just too busy with classes to be dealing with this. But this semester, Tony doesn’t have friday classes and he has dedicated this time to working on SBUGuide.

The new perspective launch date is now September 2008. Funny because our original launch date was September 2007, a year ago.

Currently we are most of the way done with some content but not nearly all of it. We are looking to hire or bring onboard a new member to our team to help us with some future plans we have for the site. We are looking for talented PHP/MySQL developers that currently attend Stony Brook University.

But things are so far going well. Hope to keep you updated soon!

I checked the tracking on it and told Joel to go and pick it up from the mail room but we forgot our ID’s when we got there and had to go back to get it. When we got back to the mail room literally 3 minutes later, they closed. We were so close to getting it and recording our first weekly podcast today. Well while I’m here, let me tell you about the purchase I’m so proud of.

About The Blue Snowball

Why did we pick this particular microphone? Simple, because it has USB connectivity. Blue is a manufacturer of professional condenser and vocal mics. This is their first professional version with the convenient USB connectivity. A USB microphone will allow us to carry around a professional microphone all the time with a laptop so we can record anywhere. I’d personally love to record at a Stony Brook football game.

On September 19th, all the clubs and organization will hold recruitment day. We are attempting to arranging a table to be setup on September 19th at the SAC for a promotion event at the school. We will spread the word of SBUGuide there as well as hand out flyer’s with information about our services.
