Stony Brook Admissions Blogger

Thats right! Tony’s Official Stony Brook Admissions Blogger is now up and running, check our all 8 of our SBU Bloggers right here!

One thing I dislike is the time it takes to moderate my posts. I want to see my latest post NOW! :)

Sorry No Podcast This Week - Here’s Why!

We ordered the Blue Snowball USB Microphone from Amazon last week and it came in today. I checked the tracking on it and told Joel to go and pick it up from the mail room but we forgot our ID’s when we got there and had to go back to get it. When we got back to the mail room literally 3 minutes later, they closed. We were so close to getting it and recording our first weekly podcast today. Well while I’m here, let me tell you about the purchase I’m so proud of.

About The Blue Snowball

Why did we pick this particular microphone? Simple, because it has USB connectivity. Blue is a manufacturer of professional condenser and vocal mics. This is their first professional version with theĀ convenient USB connectivity. A USB microphone will allow us to carry around a professional microphone all the time with a laptop so we can record anywhere. I’d personally love to record at a Stony Brook football game.

SNOWBALL PICTURE HERE

Anyhow, we apologize for not having what we promised, we will definitely have it by Monday and maybe even record the podcast then but who knows.

Adal’s Message To Our Visitors!!

Voice recording will be widely used to communicate our blogs and to pass out some important info from people on campus.

Let The Contents Start Rollin’ In!

Adal, Joey and I (Tony) started working on the contents of the website today, we will take this weekend to do most of it but that’s not the most exciting part of it all!

On September 19th, all the clubs and organization will hold recruitment day. We are attempting to arranging a table to be setup on September 19th at the SAC for a promotion event at the school. We will spread the word of SBUGuide there as well as hand out flyer’s with information about our services.

We will see you all there! Make an effort to come to our table!

Stony Brook Admissions Blog

I went to the Stony Brook Admissions Blog meeting this morning. It was held in the Admissions office and all of the 2007-2008 bloggers showed up for an wonderful presentation by Stefan Hyman, our director of SB Admissions Blogs. We had lunch and discussedĀ  the vision of the blog program.

Apparently Stony Brook Admissions already knows about our project here at SBUGuide which is awesome! We will develop a marketing plan to get the word out to all students and prospective students. Thus we will complete it.

So, my photo shoot for the blog page is tomorrow. Hopefully it will come out great!

Random Ramblings: Visit Our Forums

I was just browsing the site stats for this new website launched last week. I didn’t expect any visits but I also didn’t expect that people would go to StonyBrookSucks.com and use their forums instead of ours! In the past couple of days, I saw at least 15 new posts and a few more replies on their outdated, unmaintained website! That’s horrible news!

Why would anyone go to an anti Stony Brook website to talk about Stony Brook? I guess it’s all about Google Page Ranking. They have been around for a while therefore they are on top, and when you’re on top, you get a lot more traffic hits. This is what I’ll take back to Stony Brook tomorrow to stress to my team, the importance of quality articles and posts to significantly increase our Google Page Rank. I need to master SEO ASAP! :(

In the mean time, please visit and register on our unofficial Stony Brook website forums! It’s the only way to support Stony Brook! I move back in tomorrow…
